Political Cartoon: Definition of Insanity
"We," not just the campaigns but anyone speaking out, need to change things up
Hello all! My latest cartoon for
was published this morning. This was actually inspired by what I wrote earlier this week to accompany the belatedly-published Election Day cartoon. As Democrats reflect on the events of this past election, it is crucial that they emphasize the importance of introspection—specifically, introspection about their outward focus. Clearly, swing voters, moderate voters, and former/possible conservative voters are a crucial demographic for the Democrats if they hope to win general elections.
A big way that Democrats, particularly creatives and commentators on the left like myself tend to use our platforms to contribute what we can, is simply pointing out bad things that Trump and the GOP do over and over and over again. We genuinely believe these things we flag will be problems for this crucial voter base now that Trump has been elected president not once but twice — and that should say it all.
We need to think about what arguments will actually be persuasive to Trump’s supporters or those who overlooked him as a threat—that’s certainly going to be my main focus as a political cartoonist in the coming years. It’s go time—we can’t let the regime of Trumpism stay in power after these next four years.
Until next time. Also, new banner image. I forgot how much yellow-mud color there was in that TV header and I’m trying something.
